The Santa Maria Public Works Department will host a workshop to discuss the McCoy Lane traffic median project on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Santa Maria City Council Chambers, 110 E. Cook St.
The City Council authorized the McCoy Lane median installation on a six-month trial basis and instructed staffers to monitor results.
In August 2008, crews installed new striping and traffic delineators on McCoy Lane west of Broadway to simulate the traffic conditions around a raised median, intended to stop motorists from turning left out of the Kohls Shopping Center driveways onto McCoy Lane.
City staffers are expected to go before the City Council in February to brief members on the results of traffic monitoring and analysis of the installation.
For more information about the workshop, contact the Santa Maria Public Works Department at 925-0951, Ext. 225
