Small and inexpensive is the name of the drop-in gift-making game at KnitFit in Solvang. The last-minute play in this store starts as low as $3 and runs up to $15, depending of course, on what a child’s creative juices are saying when they drop by.

Children can make holiday cards, decorate a plastic ornament, or create a beaded snowflake for $5 per project. For $6, a holiday coaster could be checked off someone’s wish list. For $3 to $5, a child could learn to apply alcohol ink to a snowflake.

Maybe your kid wants to make something a little flashier and has a bit more time to spend with his or her craft. Holiday silk painting is $15. Little ones can also appliquƩ a felted stocking for $10 or do some needle work on that same stocking for $15.

KnitFit also has craft ideas for adults, such as deco-podging a wine bottle or embossing a wine bottle gift bag—both of which can be done at home or with the help of employees at KnitfFt.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The shop is located at 473 Atterdag Road.
