If you fund it, they will go: The Nipomo High School robotics team is scrambling to raise $10,000 in two weeks to compete in the 2010 VEX World Robotics Clean Sweep Championships, to be held April 22 through 24 in Dallas, Texas.

And the donations definitely won’t be wasted, according to team advisor Greg Gracia.

This season, the team finished in the semi-final rounds at the Independence High School VEX Robotics Challenge in San Jose.

ā€œWe were complimented in our overall team sportsmanship, quality of robots, and willingness to help any other teams in need,ā€ Gracia wrote in an e-mail to the Sun.

The team also won the Judge’s Award, which is given to the best all-around team for its robot, sportsmanship, and competitive standing.

Gracia went on to say in the e-mail that donations of $500 or more will receive advertising on the club’s T-shirts, which are worn at competitions. And all donations will be recognized on the team banner, which is displayed in the pit area during competition.
