California State Controller John Chiang and Free Tax Preparation Services are partnering to offer free tax preparations at Allan Hancock College on March 21 for people making less than $45,000 a year.
Eligible taxpayers who want to take advantage of the service will need to provide a valid photo ID, Social Security card, or Taxpayer Identification Number for all family members, and all W-2 and 1099 forms for 2008. Information on tuition payments, daycare expenses, and childcare provider identifying numbers are also required if applicable. Bank account and routing number information will be needed to process refunds.
The free tax services will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s Community Education Center, located at 800 South College Drive, Building S, in Santa Maria.
