On Dec. 6., the cats and dogs at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society will be wishing the community a happy “paw-liday” season during a free open house from noon to 4 p.m. at the Humane Society shelter, 751 Black Road, in Santa Maria.

Guests at the “paw-liday” party will have the opportunity to visit with Santa, enjoy treats, and play games with their four-legged hosts. Also, donations to the shelter foodbank or to the shelter’s animal food program are appreciated.

“If you are considering adding a cat or dog to your home this season, or any time, this event will be an extra fun way to meet your potential new family member,” executive director Kelly White O’Neill said in a press release.

For more information about the event or for a list of food items accepted by the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society, visit www.smvhs.org or call 349-3435.
