Children’s curiosity can take off this summer through Allan Hancock College Community Education science and rocketry classes for kids ages 8 through 15.

Classes include:

• Adventures in Math/Engineering/Computer Science, which is designed for students entering seventh, eighth, and ninth grades in the fall. The class meets Monday through Thursday, June 16 through 26, from 9 a.m. to noon on the Santa Maria campus.

• Astronomy and Telescopes for children ages 8 through 11 is a one-day class on July 12, and Astronomy and Telescopes II is a one-day class on July 19 for children ages 12 through 15. Those classes meet from 9 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. at the Endeavor Center classroom at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

• Rocketry: 3-2-1 Blast Off! is also a one-day class available to children ages 8 to 11 years old that takes place on June 21. A similar class for children ages 12 to 15 years old takes place on June 28. The classes meet from 9 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. at the Endeavor Center classroom at Vandenberg.

Hancock requires pre-registration for the classes. Register in person at Community Education in Building S on the Santa Maria campus. Fees apply per class.
