On Nov. 6, Allan Hancock College will be hosting a free contracting workshop where participants can learn more about the upcoming capital improvement projects being developed as part of the collegeās facilities master plan. This includes the Student Services Center set to break ground early next year.

Sponsored by the college and the Santa Maria Valley Contractors Association, the workshop runs from 7 a.m. to noon on the Santa Maria campusā Student Center. The presentation will include an overview of projects and information about the paperwork required to make a bid.

Topics covered in the paperwork session will include information regarding what subcontractors need to know about labor compliance and LEED-certified buildings.

The projects are being funded by Measure I, the $180 million bond passed by voters in 2006.
