
On May 25, Allan Hancock College employees honored more than 20 of their peers who are set to retire this year at a special reception on the Santa Maria campus.
According to college officials, this yearās retirees have contributed a total of 541 years of service to the college. The most senior retirees are electronics instructor Robert Alldredge and copy center technician Lee Lutz, who are both retiring after 39 years at Hancock. Other retirees with 30 or more years of service include administrative secretary Jennie Batiste; information technology specialist Kim Froom; Disabled Students Program and Services specialist Cherry Barney; English professor Bob Isaacson; and multimedia services coordinator Bruce Gourley.
Other retirees include Jan Stollberg, executive secretary to the president; faculty services support coordinator Christine Jenkins; mathematics instructor Allen Hire; campus police officer Richard Ramirez; Extended Opportunity Programs and Services assistant Connie Nau; transcript evaluator Deborah Castillo; instructional assistant Ila Phillips; electronics instructor John Reese; administrative technician Peg Rodriguez; early childhood studies instructor Liz Regan; maintenance supervisor Brian Shigenaka; computer operator Virginia Begg; administrative assistant Eileen Hervey; programmer/analyst William Bley; and Ruth Buma, director of auxiliary accounting services.
Also honored at the reception were 13 faculty members who achieved tenure during the 2009-10 academic year, followed by a presentation of classified employee achievement awards.
