On Aug. 2, Allan Hancock College announced that 214 graduates from high schools in the Santa Maria Valley were named to the Deans Honors List for the spring 2011 semester, including 77 named to the Special Honors List.

The college reports that, of the 214 graduates, 85 came from Righetti High School, 59 from Pioneer Valley High School, 45 from Santa Maria High School, 17 from St. Joseph High School, and eight from Delta High School.

A total of 542 students landed on the Deans Honors List, and 245 of those were named to the Special Honors List. For each semester, students named to the Deans Honors List must complete at least 12 units with a 3.5 or better grade point average. To be named to the Special Honors List, students must complete at least 12 units with a 4.0 grade point average.

The college noted that total credit enrollment for the spring semester was approximately 11,000 students.
