The short of it: Marian Medical Center is building a new hospital.

The long of it: Ann Foxworthy Lewellen, co-chair of the Cornerstone Campaign for Marian Medical Center, will speak about the project at the Committee to Improve North County and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee’s upcoming monthly luncheon.

A new patient tower will house 188 private rooms with baths, an expanded emergency department and critical care unit, and a neonatal intensive care unit for specialized care for newborns.

Local business leaders interested in learning about events, activities, and proposals that may have a direct impact on their businesses and on the city, county, and state are welcome to network and hear Foxworthy Lewellen speak at noon on Feb. 17.

Foxworthy Lewellen served as president of Allan Hancock College for 13 years

The luncheon will be held at the Santa Maria Fair Park’s Satellite Wagering Facility at 937 S. Thornburg. Networking starts at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $12. All reservations must be made by 2 p.m. on Feb. 13.
