Four men from Lompoc were arrested on suspicion of robbing and assaulting two men in separate incidents in Isla Vista during the early morning hours of May 28, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelly Hoover, the Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said sheriff’s deputies from the Isla Vista foot patrol responded to an alleged strong-arm robbery and assault of a 28-year-old male victim at approximately 12:50 a.m. in the area of Pardall Road and Camino Pescadero.

Police later identified 22-year-old Ignacio Sanchez Reyes from Lompoc as the suspect involved, Hoover said.

Sheriff’s deputies and UC Santa Barbara Police Department officers had searched for Reyes with a K-9 team in the immediate area, and detained three male suspects at gunpoint who were with Reyes earlier in the evening, Hoover said.

Reyes was later located in the 6500 block of Madrid Road and detained at gunpoint by a Sheriff’s deputy in the 900 block of Camino Pescadero, Hoover said.

The three others were identified as 21-year-old Javier Rodriguez-Anguiano, 21-year-old Francisco Guzman, and 20-year-old Juan Raul Garibay Arredando, who are all from Lompoc, Hoover said.

A little more than an hour later, Hoover said Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive, where they found a 21-year-old male victim from Isla Vista suffering from a stab wound. The victim was treated and transported to a local hospital, Hoover said.

Hoover said the physical descriptions of the four suspects matched those of the people arrested by police, and further investigation linked them to the alleged crimes.

Reyes was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of robbery. Rodriguez-Anguiano, Guzman, and Arredondo were booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
