It’s not an ideal situation, but foreclosure doesn’t have to be an overwhelming, mysterious experience for homeowners. Just ask Brian Kerrigan, housing counselor for Peoples’ Self-Help Housing.

On Feb. 11, Kerrigan will lead a free Peoples’ Self-Help Housing seminar to warn attendees about predatory lending and present options when it comes to dealing with a loan funder while foreclosure looms on the horizon.

Peoples’ Self-Help Housing is a nonprofit that aims to provide affordable housing and programs leading to self-sufficiency for low-income families, seniors, and other special needs groups on the Central Coast.

The seminar runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Los Adobes de Maria II, 1148 W. Boone St., in Santa Maria.

To reserve a space, call the organization at 781-3088. For a complete schedule of local seminars, visit pshhc.org.
