Most people have heard of Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club. On April 24, Allan Hancock College will take a page from Tan’s book—so to speak—by hosting the Joy Work Club Women’s Conference from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Santa Maria campus Student Center.

The club is a network of businesswomen meeting to share knowledge and resources about business and other issues. Discussions will focus on ways to improve attendees’ business and personal skills through stress reduction and time management, more confident communication styles, and more effective work and personal relationships.

The conference costs $95 and includes lunch and refreshments.

Attendees must be at least 18 years old. Registration deadline is April 19, after which there’s a late fee of $10. Registration at the door isn’t an option.

Register in person at the college’s Community Education Center (building S) on the Santa Maria campus.

For more information about the conference, call 922-6966, Ext. 3209, or visit hancockcollege.edu/spectrum.
