Lompoc Phone and Wireless is taking to the sidewalk with a celebration on Feb. 21.

From noon to 2 p.m., guests can learn about the business, hear music from ā€œThe Beatā€ (95.7 FM), enjoy free food from Mi Amore Pizza, and enter a drawing to win a Bluetooth headset.

The company will also handle refurbishing old cell phones for shipment to soldiers in Iraq.

General Manager Brendan Reitsma said the business is holding the event so locals can get to know it better.

Phone and Wireless began in San Luis Obispo in 1947 as a two-way radio service. Now, the company offers Verizon Wireless cell products and services, DirecTV and Dish Network satellite TV, and business phone systems from Panasonic and NEC.

The company boasts 12 locations on the Central Coast, from Lompoc to Paso Robles. Find the Lompoc branch in the Longs Drugs Shopping Center on H
