On Feb. 12 and Feb. 13, students from Fesler Junior High School’s physical education classes jumped rope to raise money for the American Heart Association.
“Junior high students are not too young to make a difference in the lives of others. That’s what our emphasis has always been,” Fesler P.E. teacher Paul Cole said in a press release. “Some of our students have raised money in honor of loved ones who died, some students have gotten donations from local businesses, but most students give what they would normally spend on a treat for themselves.”
Students who collected $20 or more could substitute 20 minutes of jumping rope for their daily 20-minute run.
To keep the students motivated, teachers organized several competitions, including who could jump over a rope the most times in a minute, who could jump for the longest time without missing, and which class could have the most students jump over a super-long rope.
