As part of national “Spay and Neuter Month,” the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society, through a partnership with the Santa Barbara Humane Society, is reducing its fees for spay and neuter services throughout February.
The reduced cost of spaying a dog is $60, and the cost for neutering a dog is $55. A surcharge of $10 will be added if the dog is in heat, pregnant, or weighs more than 60 pounds. The cost for spaying a cat is $50, and the cost for neutering a cat is $35.
Several local veterinary clinics are also offering discounted prices throughout February: Adobe Animal Clinic, All Valley Pet Hospital, and Santa Maria Animal Hospital. Three Lompoc clinics are cutting their prices as well: St. Francis Veterinary Hospital, Village Veterinary Clinic, and West Valley Veterinary Clinic.
The Humane Society encourages spaying and neutering year-round. The Santa Maria clinic, located at 751 Black Road, is open Monday through Friday for appointments.
