The Far Western Tavern recently used its blog to update Central Coast steak lovers about repair work on the restaurant’s kitchen, which caught on fire Dec. 29.

“We were the hottest restaurant in town last week—but for the wrong reason!” read a Jan. 4 post to farwesterntavern.com. “The good news is that the damage was not extensive, and confined mainly to our grill’s venting system. Repairs are underway. However, our kitchen must remain closed until the repairs are finished.”

Restaurant management expects to re-open on Jan. 11 or 12, but the opening could take longer.

“We regret the unavoidable cancellations of existing reservations during this time. We look forward to re-opening soon, and appreciate your understanding,” the post said.
