There are no holidays for members of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, who, on April 12, responded to an emergency helicopter rescue request from the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department. A man in his early 20s climbed to the top of a large rock north of Shell Beach and was unable to climb back down, according to a press release from the fire department. A helicopter team of two firefighter paramedics and one crew chief responded to the call, and safely hoisted the man from the three-story boulder.
