Leather lovers have contributed more to Santa Ynez Valley Friends of the Library than just fancy bookcovers. First Street Leather’s 20th Annual Charity Fashion show recently raised $1,550 for the group.

Although no admission was charged at the event, guests were encouraged to donate to the Santa Ynez Friends of the Library. Cassandra and Phillip Grant, who own First Street Leather, also donated a portion of the sales to Friends of the Library in honor of Marjorie Scribner, Phillip Grant’s mother and a long-time library supporter.

More than 200 guests were present at the show, which occurred this past December in the ballroom of the Hotel Corque in Solvang.

“We are so pleased to make this donation on behalf of my late mother,” Grant said in a statement to the media.

During the fashion show, designer Nicole Remeny was featured. She recently launched her own brand: 1020 by Nicole. According to Grant, Remeny has a following that includes Drew Barrymore and Zoe Saldana.

“We were thrilled to bring her to Solvang for this charity event,” Grant said in the statement.
