During October, Santa Barbara County Animal Services is encouraging residents to “Fall in Love” with a shelter pet by offering adoption specials. With more than 600 animals to choose from, the county’s three animal services shelters are filled with adoptable animals.

Future owners will have a chance to adopt a dog for only $75—a $35 savings—and animal services will throw in a microchip for free.

All cats adopted during the month of October will receive a free microchip for $70 for a savings of $30. In addition to dogs and cats, Animal Services has several adoptable rabbits. All white rabbits will be 50 percent off—a $15 savings—and all bonded bunny couples will be two for $30.

All animals adopted from Santa Barbara County Animal Services are spayed or neutered and up to date on all applicable vaccinations. Animal services doesn’t routinely microchip animals adopted through the county, however, all cats adopted from its partner, Animal Shelter Assistance Program, are always provided a free microchip.

The Santa Maria Animal Center is located at 548 W. Foster Road in Santa Maria, the Santa Barbara Shelter is at 5473 Overpass Road in Goleta, and the LaPAWS Shelter is at 1501 W. Central Ave. in Lompoc.  The shelters are open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
