Eating ice cream on the Fourth of July is about as American as it gets, according to the folks over at the Old Orcutt Merchants Association. With that concept in mind, association members are inviting Central Coast residents to celebrate the countryās birthday by attending cash mobs July 4 and 5 at Doc Burnsteinās Ice Cream Lab in Old Town Orcutt.
According to the website cash-mobs.com, cash mobs are flash mobs, but instead of singing and dancing, people spend money as a group. Participants target small, local businesses that make each community special in order to give the business owners an economic stimulus.
āDoc Burnsteinās has done a lot for Old Town Orcutt,ā OOMA representatives said in a recent press release. āThey host regular story times for kids, sponsor local fundraisers and also host quarterly blood drives at their Orcutt location.ā
Added OOMA President Mark Steller, āCash mobs are a great way to get people to visit Old Town Orcutt and support our local businesses. Our last cash mob at Vintage Veranda was a huge success. They saw a lot of new faces and made a lot of new friends. This time we are recognizing Doc Burnsteinās Ice Cream Lab, so come on out and help us support our valued local businesses!ā
The cash mobs will run during business hours, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Customers who mention that they are part of the cash mob will receive a 10 percent discount.
Doc Burnsteinās Ice Cream Lab is located at 168 E. Clark Ave. in Old Orcutt.
