From now until July 2, the city of Santa Maria will be searching for representatives to serve on three local committees.
Applications for the Block Grants Advisory Committee, Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, and the Library Board of Trustees will be accepted until 5 p.m. on the day of deadline.
The city will appoint five members to the Block Grants Advisory Committee, which meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. and reports directly to the Santa Maria City Council. Members are required to hold public hearings, review funding applications, and recommend allocation of grant money to the council under the Community Development Block Grant Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. Committee members serve three-year terms.
One applicant will be chosen to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens and the Area Agency on Aging program. The board sets policy and is responsible for overseeing the commissionās funding allocations and personnel. Board members meet monthly and generally serve on one or two separate committees.
Additionally, two appointments will be made to the Santa Maria Public Library Board of Trustees, which sets library regulations and advises the City Council on library issues. Members of the board are appointed by the mayor for three-year terms and meet on the second Tuesday of each month.
