Celebrity guests, like Santa Maria City Councilwoman Alice Patino, have shared stories as a part of the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum’s new Tuesday Tales program.

The Discovery Museum just launched one more free weekly program, adding to its already robust series of hands-on program for kids and families: “Tuesday Tales.” We are excited to be able to offer this great storytelling program—a standard feature at most children’s museums around the country—and have put a lot of thought and planning into providing a quality story time and early literacy program for preschoolers.

Included in the museum admission price, this drop-in program gives preschoolers the chance to hear fun stories by trained readers and to participate in hands-on activities related to the stories.

For the months of August and September, we’ve had celebrity readers like County Supervisor Steve Lavagnino and City Councilwoman Alice Patino reading some of their favorite stories to kids, as well as a focus on stories about community helpers like police officers and firefighters.

October stories will be all about “yuck,” and story time participants can also learn songs, play games, or enjoy a craft after enjoying a great story or two each week.

Bring your preschoolers every Tuesday at 10:30 for “Tuesday Tales” and see their love of books and reading really grow.
