Bank VP to address luncheon

The public is invited to the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce Hispanic Business Committee’s luncheon on Oct. 5 to hear its featured speaker, Gonzalo Fernandez.

Now boasting 46 years in the banking industry, Fernandez first immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1962 and worked his way up from a bank messenger to his current capacity as SBA General Manager for Pacific Capital Bancorp. He’s the founding member of the Hispanic Development Council of the City of Orange, a member of the advisory board for the Graduate School of Management for the University of California-Irvine, and on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado.

Fernandez also works with United Way and is a member of Habitat for Humanity and the Board of Directors for the Orangewood Foundation.
