Earlier this month, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria recognized seven teaches from the Santa Maria-Bonita School District with the “Angels in Education” award for “going above and beyond the call of duty” in their teaching careers. The awards are presented two times during the school year and are sponsored by the club’s members. Schools selected their own recipients: (left to right) Katie Paulding of El Camino Jr. High School, Marilyn Payne of Battles Elementary School, James Ikenoyama of Sanchez Elementary School, Cindy Dias of Ontiveros Elementary School, Donna Ehret of Adam Elementary School, Elaine Bernard of Miller Elementary School, and Tiffany Fife-McInerney of Arellanes Junior High School.
