The American GI Forum Education Foundation of Santa Maria, along with LULAC Santa Maria Council No. 3252, awarded 10 scholarships to local high school graduates and college/university students at the Cornerstone Community Room on Saturday, June 25.
The following students were awarded scholarships to attend these schools in the coming year:
⢠Isaiah Aleman, College of Alameda

⢠Marivel Bravo-Mendosa, CSU Fresno
⢠Jacueline Cacique, CSU Northridge
⢠Eddie Galvan Jr., CSU Los Angeles
⢠Willie R. Galvan, Brandman University
⢠Fabiola Gonzalez, CSU Dominguez Hills
⢠Abelardo Hernandez, CSU Long Beach
⢠Crisoforo Hernandez, CSU Fresno
⢠Gerardo Toledo, Cal Poly, SLO
⢠Ashley Winchester, Walden University
The American GI Forum has awarded close to 500 scholarships over the past 37 years, with approximately $400,000 granted.
City Councilwoman Terri Zuniga spoke to the scholarship recipients, and encouraged them to return to Santa Maria when they finish their higher education and use their education to help their families and the community, according to a press release from the American GI Forum.
