The Santa Maria Police Department issued an Amber Alert for a child who was reportedly abducted on Aug. 21 after a fatal shooting at 230 North College Drive. The alert was issued just after 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 22.
Daniel Morozov, 9, is 4-foot-5 with brown hair and eyes, according to the alert. He is white and weighs 90 pounds. He is likely with Konstantin Morozov, a white 48-year-old man with brown hair and eyes. Konstantin is 6-feet tall and weighs 180 pounds, according to the alert.
Both were still missing as of Aug. 22 and are likely to be traveling in a black 2017 Jeep Cherokee with license plate number 7XZK698. The original reported vehicle, a 2015 blue Volkswagen Golf hatchback, was found abandoned in Santa Maria on Aug. 22.
Police, homeland security, military, and local and private security forces are responding to the alleged abduction, according to the alert. The alert has been flagged as extremely severe, and police are asking the public to focus on international airports and border crossings where the Morozovs might be headed.
Police instructions say to call 911 if the Morozovs are spotted and to not approach the individuals if sighted. Santa Maria Police could not be reached for comment before the Sunās press time.
