Allan Hancock College’s spring 2009 classes don’t start until the week of Jan. 26, but online registration (WebReg) starts Dec. 1 and continues through Dec. 23.

WebReg will also be available after the holiday season, Jan. 2 to 14, and in-person registration is scheduled for Jan. 20 and 21. Registration fees for qualified low-income students may be waived, according to a press release from the college.

The college suggests that new students planning to attend spring classes consider taking the START (Student Testing, Advising, Retention and Transition) placement test. START offers basic skills assessment, an orientation to college programs and services, and pre-enrollment counseling to help with course selection. Many new students, and some continuing and returning students, are required to take the START assessment.

START sessions are available at the Santa Maria campus and the Lompoc Valley Center on a walk-in basis. No appointments are necessary. Find the START testing schedule on the college’s website, hancockcollege.edu.

For more information about WebReg or START, call the Santa Maria campus at

922-6966 or the Lompoc Valley Center at 735-3366.
