The Great American Melodrama will audition young local actors for the 2017 production of A Christmas Carol. Auditions will be held at the theater on Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. The Melodrama is seeking eight actors to play four roles: Tiny Tim, a small boy aged 5 to 7; Belinda, a girl aged 6 to 12; Peter, a boy aged 10 to 17; and Martha, a girl aged 12 to 17.

A Christmas Carol is a highlight of our Holiday Extravaganza and a special part of many families’ holiday celebrations,ā€ Melodrama Artistic Director Dan Schultz said in a press release. ā€œWe look forward to showcasing young members of our community alongside our talented professional actors.ā€

Actors should come prepared to recite a memorized rhyme or monologue and to sing a verse from their favorite Christmas carol or other song. An accompanist will not be provided; songs may be sung a capella. Audition pieces should not exceed a total of two minutes. Rehearsals begin Oct. 24, and the show runs from Nov. 16 through Dec. 31, 2017. All positions are paid.
