The Wildling Museum is offering a field class at Carpinteria Salt Marsh Reserve, an event that melds natural history and photography, on Nov. 21. The light hike will include a visit to the UC Natural Reserve part at the Carpinteria Salt Marsh where naturalists Dr. Fred Emerson and Larry Ballard will lead an interpretive hike through the marsh. During the hike local nature photographer Stuart Wilson will also share wildlife photography tips.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the marsh, where low tide begins to kick in during the late morning and early afternoon. All skill levels are welcome to bring point-and-shoot cameras to get shots of the tide creatures, like horn snails, line shore-crabs, pygmy blue butterfly, salt marsh skipper, ghost shrimp, sting ray, mullet, and many other species.
The class fee is $25, and museum members pay $20. More information is available through the museum at 686-8315 or wildlingmuseum.org.
