The Wildling Art Museum is offering birding classes with noted naturalist and birder Dr. Fred Emerson from 9 to 11a.m. the third Saturday morning of the month Feb. 19 through May 21.

Emerson will discuss the local ecology and natural history of each site visited. Because of the late rains last year, spring should arrive earlier this year, so there will be plenty of wildflowers to enjoy and learn about.

Participants can sign up for one class at a time or save money and sign up for the whole series. The first class will meet at the museum, with subsequent classes meeting in different locations around the Santa Ynez Valley. The class is suited for mature children (accompanied by an adult and able to handle binoculars), teens, and adults.

Single classes cost $20 ($15 for Wildling members), and the series is $60 ($45 for Wildling members). Sign up by calling 688-1082, or visit wildlingmuseum.org. The Wildling Art Museum is at 2928 San Marcos Avenue in Los Olivos.
