A call for creative chairs is under way for the Los Alamos Chair Faire, to be held Saturday, July 28. Entrants may sell their chairs, display them only, and/or be a part of the competition.

Chairs will be judged in five categories: Most Pristine Antique, Best Art Chair, Chair with the Most Potential, Cutest Children’s Chair, and Best Hand-Crafted Chair.

Many of these novel creations will be shown in The Art Yard next to C Gallery. This year also marks the addition of a new ā€œSaddlesā€ category. Saddles entered for exhibit only are toĀ  be displayed in front of the Gentleman Farmer Antique Shop, and saddle entries available for sale will sit on the split-rail fence at Centennial Park in the center of Los Alamos. Chair entry fees apply to saddles being entered.

Bell Street Farms Eatery & Market in Los Alamos has created a page on Pinterest where dozens of art chair examples can be viewed, and everyone is encouraged to pin favorites. To find the page, search ā€œPinterest Chair Faire Los Alamos.ā€

Entry fees for the Chair Faire are two chairs for $15, four chairs for $25, and eight chairs for $35. Winners receive gift certificates from Los Alamos merchants as prizes. Winning Art chairs will also be featured in next year’s publicity materials. Entry fee proceeds benefit the Olga Reed Elementary School in Los Alamos, while all earnings from sales of chairs go to the sellers.

For entry forms and more information, visit the C Gallery website at thecgallery.com/chairfairemain.html or call 344-3807.
