An ancient grudge, a bright pink mask, and a high-stakes wrestling ring all play big roles in Luchadora!, the latest production at the Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA).

Community members can experience the adventure at the Marian Theatre from June 18 to July 3. Watch as protagonist Nana Lupita secretly trains with help from a mysterious mask maker to right some longstanding wrongs.

ā€œFull of heart, humor, and high-flying heroics, Luchadora! is a vibrant, family-friendly tale of love, identity, and the courage to step into your own power,ā€ according to PCPA. ā€œThis family-friendly production is an inspiring theatrical experience that will delight children and adults alike.ā€

Luchadora! was written by Alvaro Saar Rios, a ā€œTexicanā€ playwright now based in Chicago, but his work has been featured throughout Mexico and the U.S. PCPA director Marilet Martinez was first introduced to his work three years ago.

ā€œTo luchar means to fight, and right now, there are members of our community who are in a fight for their lives, their rights, and their dignity,ā€ Martinez said in press materials. ā€œTu lucha es mi lucha. Siempre.ā€
