The Friends of Waller Park will present their Arbor Day award to Gene Peterson during their fifth annual Arbor Day ceremony on April 27 at Waller Park.
The group will recognize Gene Petersen for his dedication and services to the community, according to a press release.
“Gene has been a tireless supporter of Friends of Waller Park and parks in general for decades,” said Friends of Waller Park chairman George Johnston.
According to the group, Petersen was a founding member of the organization in 1982 and has done volunteer work since, helping make numerous improvements to Waller Park.
The Friends of Waller Park will plant a tree with a plaque in Petersen’s honor near the Park Office. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and include a presentation of the flag, songs by the Central Coast Chordsmen, and refreshments. Members of the public are invited.
