The county of Santa Barbara officially honored ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bàrbara! in recognition for the program’s innovative and diverse contributions to community and cultural life in the county. Eastside coordinator Aliz Ruvalcaba-Ventura received the resolution from 1st District Supervisor Salud Carbajal at the opening night of Viva’s 10th anniversary season on Sept. 13 at the Marjorie Luke Theatre, where Ballet Folklórico de Los Angeles and Grupo Bella de Venessa Ramirez performed.

¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bàrbara! was created as a collaboration between UCSB Arts and Lectures, The Marjorie Luke Theatre, Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts & Education Center in 2006. The program currently involves Arts and Lectures, the Marjorie Luke Theatre, Isla Vista School, and the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center. The 10th anniversary season includes performances by Patricio Hidalgo y El Afrojarocho, Los Camperos de Nati Cano, Las Colibri, and Monsieur Periné.
