From Oct. 19 to Nov. 11, Vandenberg Air Force Base will memorialize fallen military personnel who died during operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.

During that window, on Mondays through Fridays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the base will allow active-duty military, civilians, contractors, and retirees to run a mile for each service member killed in the line of duty.

The ā€œRun to Rememberā€ will last 24 hours straight on the final day, finishing with a
formation run that will end at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in front of the 14th Air Force headquarters building.

The fundraiser’s first runner will be Lt. Gen. Larry James, the commander of the 14th Air Force and the Joint Functional Component Command for Space.

Participants can register to run as many miles as they want, with a donation of $5 per mile going to charities supporting the Combined Federal Campaign. Members of the public who lost a loved one in operations Iraqi or Enduring Freedom can also volunteer their time.

Anyone interested in running or volunteering is encouraged to sign up by Oct. 15.
