This summer, Santa Maria Valley residents have more pool choices than ever. Both the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center and the new Pioneer Valley High School pool will be open to the public and hosting special lessons and events.

At Paul Nelson, the People for Leisure and Youth and the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department have teamed up to host three free recreation swim dates: June 22, July 27, and Aug. 24 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Regular prices for pool time are $1.25 for children age 6 to 16, $2.50 for ages 17 to 54, and $50 for an annual family pool pass.

At the new pool in town—Pioneer Valley High School—the Recreation and Parks Department is offering various activities, including swim lessons, lap swim, and recreation swim. For more information on both the free swim at Paul Nelson or the new programs at Pioneer Valley, call the Recreation and Parks Department at 925-0951, Ext. 260.
