Tom Brockway stepped away from the interview for his turn. He grabbed his bowling ball and effortlessly rolled it down the alley. A second later, the ball knocked down the pins—a strike.

On his way back to this reporter, he gave a couple of high fives.

A strike isn’t new to Brockway. He estimates his per-game strike average is about four out of five.

Although his average is pretty impressive, he recently rolled a perfect 300 game—a score he’s attained a few times before. In a series of three consecutive games, he rolled an 828. At a Feb. 7 game, Brockway had a per-game average of 210, which was an improvement of his last season, a number he only remembers was less than 200.

Brockway started bowling about 22 years ago when his son, who was 5, also started.

ā€œI taught him everything he knows,ā€ Brockway’s son Zac joked.

ā€œWe’re a bowling family,ā€ the elder Brockway added.

Brockway looks up to another bowler, Floyd Johnston, for bowling with age.

ā€œHe just turned 91 and still bowls,ā€ Brockway said. ā€œI want to be like Floyd.”
