Players, from beginners to the most experienced, are invited to come out and join Ark Tennis for three weeks of holiday tennis camps at Orcutt junior high school.

Organized for kids ages 6 to 17, the camp stresses fundamentals and making friends. Tennis is a lifetime sport that can be played from age 6 to 76; the holiday camps mark a way to introduce children to the sport or help them improve their game.

Patrick Ortiz, long-time high school tennis coach who’s helped numerous high school tennis players with their game, will be instructing at the camps.

Fees are $30 for a four-day camp and a can of Wilson tennis balls. A reduced rate is available to families with one or more children registered, and scholarships are also available.

Racquets are provided if needed, and non-marking tennis shoes are required. Registration forms can be found at Play it Again Sports in the Food Max shopping center on Broadway or at the Golden Donut at the corner of Bradley and Clark in Orcutt.

The dates for the camp are as follows: Week 1, Dec. 17 to 20; Week 2, Dec. 24 and 26 to 28; and Week 3, Dec. 31, and Jan. 2 to 4. Beginning level players start at 9 a.m., intermediate players at 10:30 a.m., and varsity players at noon.
