The Santa Maria Public Library announced that a number of resources can now be accessed from home via a computer. The vast number of resources can be reached via cityofsantamaria.org where the library tab will lead to “Search the databases.” A library card is required.
Biography in Context is a database available through the site, which includes information about more than a million celebrities, historical people, politicians, inventors, artists, scientists, journalists, mathematicians, religious figures, and sports stars. The Gale Cengage Learning resource includes 15 e-books that can be accessed for free, including American Decades, Encyclopedia of Religion, Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Schirmer Encyclopedia of Film, Encyclopedia of World Biography, and Alternative Energy.
Students will find much research paper fodder at the General Reference Center Gold, which houses many magazine and newspaper articles on current events, popular culture, politics, business, industry trends, art, science, sports, and hobbies. California Missions e-books are great resources for students receiving education about the California missions. Mango is an online language learning system that can help individuals learn languages like French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Tagalog.
Novelist is a perfect resource for bookworms, as it is a database of authors and their works that allows users to browse by subject, genre, time period, and theme. It also includes reviews and book discussions. Reference USA is a source for business and home addresses and phone numbers as well as business information.
The library also has downloadable books available through OverDrive and magazines through Zinio. More information is available at 925-0994.
