The Dunes Center in Guadalupe unveiled the second edition of its children’s book series The Dune Forum: The Amazing Nature of the Dunes. The series, named after the historic magazine began by famous Dunite Gavin Arthur, is the outcome of the Dunes Center’s STEAM program, which brings nature-inspired creative writing and art lessons to students at six schools in SLO and Santa Barbara counties.

Local eighth grader Alicia Garcia created the cover art for The Dune Forum: The Amazing Nature of the Dunes. The original was present at an unveiling event on Oct. 7 at the Dunes Center. Guadalupe middle school student Daniel Lazalde contributed the subtitle. Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery supports the STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—program and recently donated $25,000 to help continue the classes, according to a press release from the Dunes Center.
