The People for Leisure And Youth, Inc. (PLAY, Inc.), along with the city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, is asking the public for donations in order to help procure a 24-foot Christmas tree for the center of town.

The Christmas tree will be part of the holiday décor placed downtown, which includes low energy/high output median and light pole decorations. The decorations were provided to PLAY, Inc. from a grant from PG&E. Other business and private sponsors have come forth to lend support for the tree, but money is still needed.

If the funds get raised, there will be a grand illumination ceremony featuring hot cocoa, cookies, carolers, and the tree lighting on Nov. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in front of city hall.

For more information, or to find out how to donate, contact PLAY, Inc. at 925-0951, Ext. 263 or donate online at santamariaatplay.org.
