The Dunes Center and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are co-hosting a one-mile round trip hike into the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge on Sept. 27, starting at 5:30 p.m. Hikers will be taken into the refuge and up to a high vantage point to watch the sunset. They’ll return to the parking lot around dusk.
The hike is part of the “Connecting Families with Nature Project” being conducted by the center and the service. The hikes will focus on family outdoor recreation and natural history interpretation.
Families who join the hike should bring warm clothes, flashlights, water, and snacks if needed. Cameras and binoculars are also recommended, but pets aren’t allowed. To RSVP for the hike or for more information, call Dan McElhinney at the Dunes Center at 343-2455, Ext. 204, or visit www.dunescenter.org.
