With summer on the horizon, the Santa Maria Valley YMCA is the place to be, with summer camp for kids and new fitness classes for adults.
Camps for children include Splash Camp, where children will learn 45 minutes of swim instruction each day, as well as participate in traditional camp activities. Other camps include the action-packed Camp Xtreme, Princess Camp, Super Hero Camp, Soccer Camp, Cooking Camp, and LEGO Camp. Of course, there’s still the traditional camp, open to ages 4 to 12 with arts, crafts, games, projects, swimming, and more. Financial assistance is available for summer.
Adults can sign up for Summer Fitness Jam, four rotations of half-hour classes in Zumba, Bodypump, Spin, and a new class, R.I.P.P.E.D, coming in July. R.I.P.P.E.D.—Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, and Endurance—is a total body, high-intensity program making use of free weights, resistance, and body weights.
