PTA Reflections student artwork is on display at the Town Center Gallery in Santa Maria through March 19.
Reflections encourages students to pursue their own artistic expression throughout their school career and beyond to foster a lifelong love for the arts. For nearly 40 years, the PTA Reflections program (started in 1969 by then Colorado PTA President Mary Lou Anderson) has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to create original works of art. The theme-based competitive arts program is open to students from preschool to grade 12.
Students can enter original works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts. The 40 pieces of art at the Town Center Gallery represent the photography and visual arts that made it to the district level of competition, encompassing south and north Santa Barbara County. One winner from each grade level will go on to compete in the state-, then national-level competition. This yearās theme is āTogether we can ⦠,ā and each student wrote a paragraph describing how his or her artwork illustrates the theme.
The Town Center Gallery is at 321-B Town Center West. For more information, visit thetowncentergallery.com.
