More than 140 Tri-County area singers applied to the Star Voice singing competition happening at the Chumash Casino on Oct. 18, but only 12 local vocalists could make the cut. The selected few represent talent from as far north as Atascadero and as far south as Simi Valley between the ages of 18 and 67.
The 12 finalists who will compete live on Oct. 18 include Joshua Cervantes of Goleta; Micaela Board of Lompoc; Santa Barbara’s Morshid Arpa, Rebecca Broms, Meredith Garofalo, Cassie Kimzey, Rozanne Morganstern, and Luther Richmond; Santa Maria’s Annali Fuchs, Andrea Hilbrant, and Jineanne Coderre; and Djoir Jordan from Thousand Oaks. The contest was originally set to include only 10 finalists, but the judges made an exception and added two more singers to the final tally.
Star Voice is a competition for adult singers in pop, rock, country, Broadway, and jazz styles. Formerly known as Rising Star, the Star Voice competition is produced by Joseph Lambert Productions and the Chumash Casino. The event happens Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Chumash Casino Resort.
