The Lompoc Parks and Recreation Department has issued the schedule for its spring sports offerings.
Registration for the Adult Softball League runs until Feb. 5. Menās, womenās, church, and co-ed divisionsāopen to players 16 and olderāare available, and all ability levels are welcome. The season begins Feb. 21.
For the first time ever, the department is offering a Co-ed Youth Flag Football League. Play emphasizes learning rather than competition and is designed for third through eighth graders, teaching players the basic fundamentals of football. Each player will receive a T-shirt and an award at the end of the season. A volunteer meeting will be held at Anderson Recreation Center on Jan. 20 to discuss age participation, practices, and game days.
The Departmentās Adult Co-ed 7-on-7 Soccer League is open to people of all skills levels older than 16. Registration runs from Jan. 25 to Feb. 26 and play begins in March. Teams can have up to 12 members on roster.
Tennis lessons are also available for ages 8 and older. Instructor Dennis Laws has been playing and teaching for 30 years. And his eight-lesson class covers the basics of the sport, including conditioning, stretching, grips, stroke mechanics, scoring, and strategy. Sessions run monthly in February, March, or April at Ryon Park.
