The South Coast Railroad Museum at the historic Goleta Depot is seeking volunteers interested in being docent guides aboard Amtrak trains for the Trails and Rails program. The program is a collaboration between the National Park Service, the South Coast Railroad Museum, and Amtrak and is designed to inform rail riders of the cultural, historical, and natural significance of the route being traveled.

A meeting for people interested in becoming volunteer tour guides for the Trails and Rails program is scheduled for Jan. 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the South Coast Railroad Museum, 300 N. Los Carneros Road, Goleta. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, in good health, and available to make an average of at least two one-day trips per month for five months. Program sponsors are looking for dedicated and entertaining volunteers with enthusiasm for public speaking, travel, and human interaction.Ā
