The Solvang Library will present a first-person dramatic history presentation on librarian Frances Burns Linn on March 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Linn was inducted into the California Library Hall of Fame in 2018. She served as head librarian of the Santa Barbara Public Library from 1906 through 1943 and was the driving force behind building the 101-year-old Central Library. Linn was also active in the founding of Santa Barbara County’s other libraries, including the Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, and Buellton branches. Jody Thomas, senior librarian for adult and public service with the Santa Barbara Public Library, will present the lecture.Ā

The public is also invited to attend the annual meeting of the Friends of the Library of Santa Ynez Valley, scheduled for 5 p.m. before the lecture on Linn. The group will discuss plans for supporting the local libraries. Both events are scheduled to be held in the Superior Courtroom across the hall from Solvang Library at 1745 Mission Drive, Solvang.
