Sweet Adelines International Chapter choruses throughout Northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties will present a combined concert and open house: “A Capella—A Sweet Choice,” from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the multi-purpose room at Arroyo Grande High School, 495 Valley Road in Arroyo Grande. The concert will be a free informational meeting as part of thousands scheduled worldwide in Sweet Adelines International’s global effort to teach the world to sing.

The local event will be co-hosted by Pacific Horizon Chorus (San Luis Obispo), Central Coast Celebration Chorus (Five Cities), and Tri City Sound Chorus (Santa Maria/Lompoc), all of which are chapters of Sweet Adelines International, an organization made up of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style.

Then the Sweet Adelines International Chapter Tri City Sound Chorus will hold a special open house meet-and-greet, rehearsal, and sing-a-long from 7 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 19 in Stahnke Hall at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 4725 S. Bradley Road, Orcutt. There’s no fee to attend, and refreshments will be served.

Women in Northern Santa Barbara County have participated in Tri City Sound since 1968. Tri City Sound’s regular rehearsals are held Thursdays from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. in Stahnke Hall. All women, from beginners to advanced vocalists, are invited to join in.
